A Biblically Functioning Community

Niceville Assembly of God is being specifically called to a process of spiritual formation that results in the emergence of a biblically functioning community.   We’ve labeled this process “transemergenarymorpholution” or “TEMO” for short. 

The goal of TEMO is the development of a body of believers that reflects the character and nature of Jesus Christ and brings the full power of the gospel (with all of its divinely powerful ramifications for individuals, families, neighborhoods, and nations) to bear on the communities and cultures in which we reside.  In essence, we intend to turn the world upside down (Acts 17:6).

In a biblically functioning community, those called to leadership actively seek God’s promises, God’s glory, God’s presence, and God’s people.  We are strategic in nature and pursue a spirituality that balances the experiential aspects of God’s supernatural power and presence with the intellectual aspects of correctly interpreting and applying God’s Word to our lives and situations. 

In contrast to the typical American paradigm of church members as a miscellaneous collage of unconnected individuals bound only by similar spiritual beliefs, we recognize and value the corporate nature of biblical Christianity and embrace our identity as the people of God with the divinely ordained mission to bring blessings to all nations of the earth through the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ (Gen 12:3; Matt 28:19-20).

As a community of spirit-empowered couples, we love and serve one another in a concerted effort to promote the overall spiritual health and effectiveness of the entire church.  We intentionally foster an environment of trust and enable others to discover, develop, and deploy their God-given talents, gifts, and passions.  We set high standards of excellence, excel in creativity, encourage collaboration, provide systems of accountability, and help one another learn from mistakes without fear of humiliation or reprisal.  We specialize, by God’s design, in healing people (spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically) and emulate unconditional love, acceptance, and forgiveness.

The bedrock (cornerstone) value that propels this community toward our divine destiny is a rock-solid faith in the absolute inerrancy of Scripture and its sufficiency to lead and guide us into all truth.  That value, coupled with our mystical union with Jesus Christ, our lavish experience of the Holy Spirit, and our loving partnership in the Father’s divinely ordained plan separates us from the status quo. 

The emergence of a biblically functioning community is not a new paradigm, but rather a return to the biblical emphasis on the people of God as a community of believers.  We are the people of God, on a mission from God, following the Son of God, empowered by the Spirit of God, equipped by the Word of God, building the Kingdom of God, awaiting the return of God in power and great glory.

In Jesus’ words, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matt 19:26). Let the transemergenarymorpholution begin!
